Ok, here's my group gathering introduction of myself. I'm not sure you'll find it interesting, so I'll apologize now if your head hits the keyboard when you nod off.
My name is John Mitchell. I started a company called Snapsis about three years ago and I started using DotNetNuke back in it's early stages (around 1.0.7). At that time I had been working on my "vision" of a portal application for nearly a year, all developed in ASP and VB COM+. When ASP.Net came out and the IBuySpy portal seemed to have read my mind on having a portal application with snap-in modules (I called them Snapletes™ & Snapsules™), I knew it was time to switch gears. When I found DNN and the community of developers, I knew I was home.
My first "contribution" to DNN was a way to do skinning that leveraged CSS using background images so that each portal could have it's own look and feel (Yes, believe it or not there was a time before DNN had it's own Skins Engine). I'm still a big advocate of using CSS as much as possible on the presentation layer and will be forever trying to work it into the core framework.
My real passion is coding though. I like the thought process of having to solve problems, and trying to think into the future about problems yet to come so that the code and application of the solutions have a life of their own.
But enough about me, what about you? Do you share the passion of looking forward into technology and trying to get a glimpse of where it is taking us? If so, then leave a comment, I'd like to hear from fellow technonauts.
